These awards were set up in 2003 to develop children’s sense of responsibility for their environment. So this year my WaterAid chums Mr. Tappy, Mrs. Toothbrush and I were invited along to lend a hand...
London Schools Environment Awards
Humphrey was so happy to be invited to these awards to help the kids of today understand the impact of water on the environment and what WaterAid does to help the counties who are in need of help.
Mind you, these schoolchildren had been selected by the Lord Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone for their hard work and efforts in improving their surrounding environment so I think these kids could teach Humphrey a thing or two !!
We all taked for ages as the kids queued up to receive their awards plus there was plenty of time for everyone to have their photo taken with Humphrey and his WaterAid chums... Chris Packham was the guest speaker and gave a really interseting talk on the environment which all the kids found really interesting - so much that there wasn't enough time to answer all their questions ! At the end everyone joined in singing the song 'Pick it up' which Humphrey didn't know the words to so just mimed and danced along (as did Mr. Tappy and Mrs. Toothbrush) much to the amusement of the watching croud ! See you all again next year ! |
