Walk from Abingdon Bridge to Clifton Hampden PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 14 October 2007
On Sunday 14th October Humphrey walked along the Thames Path from Abingdon Bridge to Clifton Hampden with his chums Matty and Millie and his pals who joined him on the Thames Path Challenge back in May.

Walk from Abingdon Bridge to Clifton Hampden

It was a beautiful morning – just right for taking a walk along the River Thames with my friends Matty, Millie, Jo, Geoff, Lucy, Dave and Meg the dog !

Our aim was to walk from Abingdon Bridge to Clifton Hampden to raise money for WaterAid. Matty had got lots and lots of sponsorship from his friends and teachers at school so a big thankyou to everyone who sponsored him !

We set off and chatted about all sorts of things from dinosaurs to dogs and everything else in between. But before we knew it we'd got half way through the walk so we decided to sit down and rest our weary hooves/feet.

After recharging our batteries we carried on until we reached Clifton Lock where we stopped to watch some barges go through the locks and waved and said hello to the people on the river. I can’t believe they were surprised to see a camel !

Five and a half miles is an ambitious distance for a 5 year old but Matty was very enthusiastic and full of beans (especially when we got near the end !)  so it wasn’t long before we reached Clifton Hampden and as a reward we all went to the pub for a Sunday lunch – yum !

It was a great day and we all had lots of fun. I hope we get to do another walk one day. Big camel hugs to Matty and his family !!
